Singita Castleton Camp
This big camp is part of the Singita Sabi Sand in South Africa, a resort which offers safari luxury on the finest game viewing land in the world. The Singita Sabi Sand is noted worldwide for its diversity, concentration of big game, and for the frequency of its leopard sightings.
The Castleton Camp is one of the secrets of the Singita family! It’s a comfortable escape exuding the charm of ages. It is booked as a villa and can accommodate up to 12 guests at one time. Guests will enjoy fireside dinners in the boma and sundowners in the bush and their children will love the tennis court, swimming pool, and trampoline! The camp itself is a stone-walled farmhouse with six rooms set in a garden. It includes amazing memorabilia and artifacts which create an air of subtle luxury.
The “farm-house” includes 3 double cottages with 4 twin rooms and 2 double rooms with en-suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans. The main farmhouse has wide verandas, and a large lounge and dining area. The price of accommodations includes three meals a day, all drinks except for premium wines, spirits, liqueurs, and champagne, and Land Rover expeditions with experienced guides. Children are welcome but may be asked to stay behind, for the sake of their safety, during some game activities.
Singita Activities
Activities at Castleton Camp include game drives twice a day, guided by professional guides and trackers, guided safari walks at the request of guests, mountain biking and archery, community tours into neighboring villages, Internet, satellite TV, fax facilities, and a library. Guests at Castleton may take advantage of shopping, a premier wine boutique, and a spa complete with a fully equipped gym at either the nearby Ebony or Boulders Lodge.
Singita is dedicated to preserving the environment and depends on its management teams, guides and trackers to serve as guardians of the preserves.
Visitors to the Singita Castleton will witness a variety of game-viewing, often including predator interaction, sometimes during the day and sometimes during one of the guided spotlight safaris. The Sand River runs through the Sabi Sand and one often sees leopards lurking by the river. It’s possible to observe leopards at close range as guests of the Sigita Game Reserves have been visiting the same area for years without harm to the leopards. Guests can occasionally witness them hunting, raising cubs, and teaching the cubs survival skills.
Guests Singita Castleton may also see lions, elephants, white rhinos, buffaloes, zebras, hyenas, impalas, giraffes, mongooses, cheetah, wild dogs, and baboons, among other species. There are also over 400 species of birds in the Sabi Sands area along. This gives guests unparalleled opportunities for world-class photography. Animals are often found close together and there’s sometimes the potential of getting closer to the animals to get amazing shots.
