Fly fishing, wood burning fireplaces, horseback riding, and white-water rafting may be typical of any Montana vacation ranch, but Triple Creek Ranch gives you the chance to live out that childhood dream of riding “hi-ho Silver” and rustlin’ up the cattle through the French Basin of Sula, Montana.
Through mid-October, live out the Western dream on any given Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, against the magnificent backdrop of the Montana Rockies. Those new to horseback riding, as well as those who know their way around a horse, can join an authentic cattle drive and genuinely drive a herd of cattle under the tutelage of experienced ranch hands.
Participants will depart from the Sula Peak Cattle Ranch and move through the stunning French Basin to test their horsemanship skills while genuinely moving live herds of cattle from one pasture to another. The midday break includes a picnic lunch prepared by the Triple Creek Ranch chefs.
To make sure participants know what they’re doing, Triple Creek recommends each person participate in at least one on-ranch trail ride before joining the off-ranch cattle drive.
If you’re looking for even more adventure, try the Triple Creek Ranch Horseback Adventure, a three-day/four night event exclusive to Triple Creek guests where would-be cowboys and cowgirls ride horses through various terrains, including the Selway River valley, learn the “Cowboy Basics,” including rope handling, and participate the above-mentioned cattle drive.
Because of the huge popularity and limited space available on these drives, Triple Creek offers and recommends reservations in advance.
Activities for the nature lover are abundant at Triple Creek, as they also offer fishing packages, historical trail rides, bird watching tours, rafting trips, biking rides, and more. Winter weather brings the opportunity for snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing, so every season offers visitors a chance to partake in the amazing nature-based activities of the Rockies.
